The Barre-Montpelier Times Argus announced their Boys All-Star teams today. Twinfield junior Chad Copeland was named the 2010-2011 TA Player of the Year, and rightfully so. The 6'6" Copeland averaged 21.5 pts per game, to go along with 11 reb. in the post season, helping the Trojans to an undefeated year at 24-0 and a Division IV State title. Copeland will now start his AAU season with VT's prestigious Lone Wolf Athletics 17U club, where he will look to continue his efforts in attracting collegiate coaches from all over New England.
It was certainly a close contest as U32's (and the reining POY) Ryan Shea put together another great season for the Raiders averaging 17.5 ppg and another Final four apperance in his senior campaign. Spaulding's standout forward Evan Tullar, who recently committed to Paul Booth and the Norwich Cadets also had a great year, putting up 20ppg, as well as scoring his 1,000th point this season for the Tide. I do believe the TA got the pick right though, as Copeland was most certainly the "MVP" of the Trojans ball club this year, and although he had a great supporting cast in Codling, Whitcomb, and Gonzalez (to name a few) Twinfield's season would have certainly been different without Copelands presence.
Below you will find the 1st and 2nd teams listed in today's TA. My only gripe or snub would have to be Spaulding's senior PG Lucas Dutil. There is no question based on who made the 1st team he should have been on it. Dutil played a huge role in the Tide's 14-6 regular season but was certainly overshawdowed by Tullar. Other then that, I can agree with these teams for the most part.
